Dr. James Ruppel attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb after serving in the United States Army for two years. He graduated in 1974 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. Dr. Ruppel received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1978 from Northwestern University in Chicago.
After completing a one year internship at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT, Dr. Ruppel received his specialty training in ophthalmology at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT.
Dr. Ruppel joined a private practice in Joliet for two years and then moved to Galesburg where he has been practicing for 33 years.
Dr. Ruppel uses the latest techniques for performing cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation. He is experienced in general medical and surgical ophthalmology and offers family eye care to the Galesburg community.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and “Pioneer Member” American Intra-Ocular Implant Society.
