Dr. Paul Chiranand was raised in Oak Forest, IL. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Saint Louis University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 2005 where he graduated with honors. While attending Saint Louis University School of Medicine, he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Chiranand completed a one year internship at Forest Park Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Saint Louis University in 2009 where he served as chief resident. Dr. Chiranand then completed a two year vitreo-retinal fellowship at the University of Chicago in 2011. His training included diagnosis and management of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and other retinal abnormalities. Dr. Chiranand has participated in several national clinical studies related to treatments for diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous. He is author of many peer-reviewed publications and co-author of the latest edition of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Review Manual for Ophthalmology.
In September 2013, Dr. Chiranand joined Gailey Eye Clinic. Dr. Chiranand is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
In his free time, Dr. Chiranand enjoys traveling, playing tennis and watching sports.
