Sreeni Basa, MD

Dr. Basa cares for patients with all types of diseases of the retina and is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal vascular disease such as retinal vein occlusions resulting from systemic circulation problems, retinal tears/holes, other macular and vitreoretinal diseases.

He earned his Medical Degree at Bangalore Medical College and completed an Internship in General Surgery at the University of Arizona in Tucson followed by a Residency in Ophthalmology and a Fellowship in Medical Retina at the University of Arizona. In addition, he completed a post-doctoral Fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass. Eye and Ear – Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Basa has been active in teaching other physicians and has been recognized with the ‘Deans List for Excellence in Teaching Award’ by the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona as well as being the recipient of the ‘Gold Star Award’ from the Tucson Veterans Affairs Hospital and the Retina Research Foundation ‘Joseph M. and Eula C. Lawrence Award’. He was also selected for the prestigious ‘Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Resident Retreat award’.

Dr. Basa is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). He maintains membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists and Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
