The iDesign produces a detailed map of the unique characteristics of each patient’s eye with 25x more accuracy than previous methods. It generates a high-definition scan that measures and maps irregularities of the eye that affect visual acuity. From these measurements, the iDesign System creates a personalized LASIK treatment plan based on the unique “blueprint” of each person’s eye and transfers digital instructions to the STAR S4 IR™ Excimer Laser System to address each individual imperfection in the eye. This treatment plan allows Gailey surgeons to provide the most accurate laser vision correction procedure available.
This new level of measurement is the same technology used to build NASA’s new space telescope! The sought after technology that allows high-definition views of space is allowing Gailey surgeons to map the human eye with the greatest precision available today. Before these advancements in technology, doctors were only able to use standard measurements to correct vision, meaning that prescriptions could only provide a certain level of correction regardless of an individual’s needs. Because we are able to produce a detailed map of each patient’s eyes, we are able to treat a wider range of patients than ever before.
